What?!

Dell purchased Alienware this week and I had no idea!

Alienware LaptopDell has officially announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Alienware. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Alienware will keep all of its employees and continue to focus on gamer PCs as its own company. It also will continue to sell machines with AMD chips eventhough, Dell offers Intel only machines.

We have a pretty good XPS that was no where near that much. I know we don’t have all the bells and whistles, but for we have all that we need for just under $1300 USD including a 19″ flat monitor.

DELL is offering an XPS machine for $10000, its their flagship model… and has everything you can imagine from dual quad GPU graphics cards, Dual Core CPU’s and watercooling…

I think that pricing is in Alienwares territory if not higher!

DELL is only allowed to sell machines with INTEL chips. They bought Alienware so they could get into the niche’ market and stock the better (AMD) Chips.

When the deal go’s through they will be able to build and sell “hybrid” machines… kinda inbetween alienware niche’ and DELL cheap.

    I think its great 😉

I just hope the build quality and support is good

Good points! Although the XPS systems are pretty pricey… though I havent compared them that closely.

Hmmm, I wonder what this means for the future of the XPS? I wonder if Alienware prices will come down…
