Attachment & Restless Wanting
The minute you want something for your sake, you are restless until you get it. Once you get it, you are still not really happy because you don’t want to lose it. If you do not get it, you feel anger, hatred and enmity.
But if your want is not for your sake, you don’t worry about the results. Eliminate selfishness from your life. The minute you decide to lead a selfless life, eternal happiness is yours.
~ Swami Satchidananda
Sorrow is nothing but what you borrow. The cause of our suffering is our wrong approach, our greed, attachment, clinging to things. The more attached you are results in more suffering. Nobody on earth can make us suffer. Suffering is caused by our own attitude and our own ignorance.
We think that by acquiring things we can be happy and ultimately, these same things are what make us unhappy. Detachment keeps your mind calm and serene. The moment you show attachment, you put tension in the mind.
