Custom Metadata Panel Plugin for Adobe Bridge

    • Custom AEM Metadata Panel at Adobe For Bridge from } bird { on Vimeo.

I designed and developed a fully-functional, custom Adobe CC extension for a premium enterprise-level Adobe client. Delivered: 7/16/2019.

The customer asked Adobe for a way to add custom metadata to their image assets in Bridge — a comfortable environment for their Creatives. As a Solution Developer I was tasked with designing and coding a plugin that opens a custom metadata panel in Adobe Bridge to streamline the process. Images can be edited as single items or in batch, then saved. The files along with their metadata are then imported into Adobe Asset Manager. The metadata is used for SEO and other downstream processes.

    Features:

    • Theme switcher (Adobe Spectrum Extra Dark, Dark, Light & Extra Light modes)
    • As image assets are selected in Adobe Bridge, if the image already has metadata from AEM, the Primary Item Number (PIN) and Secondary Item Numbers (SIN) will be displayed in the panel.
    • Additional asset properties, if present on the asset, will be displayed in the panel.
    • PIN’s and SINs are editable in the panel.
    • Special case: If the asset has never been to AEM, the PIN is extracted from the filename according to a set of rules.
    • Multiple assets can also be selected and updated with PINs and SINs in batch.
    • On save, PINs and SINs are permanently saved to the files’ metadata as custom metadata.
    • Upon upload to AEM, a workflow process will ingest the assets and perform necessary additional metadata lookup from the PIM.
