I am home

I stood eyes closed, arms outstretched, bare feet on the earth, as I felt my roots penetrate deep into the earth, through the ancestors I carry with me with this lifeforce, right to the very first ancestor that links us all. I felt the light run all the way from zero, through my body and out the crown of my head, reaching to the stars and beyond in a long white light. I am rooted in this light. The thread of life. I am home. Everywhere I go. I am free. The search is over.

My friend Kelly found me and took this photo a few minutes later…

This morning I was ready to leave InanItah. Every question I had when I came is answered. I gathered the pieces of my soul here that were scattered for years. I packed my backpack, fewer things than I came with, hugged the friends who had become my family goodbye. For three months we grew, learned, danced, shouted at and cried together. I will never forget any of their faces, each of their scents, how they each laugh and show love in different ways. I’m still on Ometepe Island. I don’t know for how much longer. Every day is taken as a gift here. I’m enjoying every minute.

I’m honoured I was chosen to be alive.
