The cult status face cream Crème de la Mer was created by NASA aerospace physicist Max Huber, in 1965. Huber had suffered third-degree chemical burns on his face and eye area after an accident working with rocket fuels. In his quest to repair his disfigurement he set about experimenting with various ingredients, in a makeshift lab in his garage, to create the ultimate therapeutic lotion.
