Black-hole riddle solved
Stephen Hawking has claimed a breakthrough in black-hole research that answers a major riddle in the theory that catapulted Hawking to fame nearly three decades ago.
He will present his ideas at the 17th International Conference on General Relativity and Gravitation in Dublin on July 21.
Details have not been made public — and would in any case be unintelligible to all not expert in the field. They are reported by New Scientist to concern a conundrum concerning the loss of information regarding whatever is absorbed by a black hole.
