‘Nightdwellers’ sleep rough on city streets (footage)
Ugandan street kidsEvery night, 20,000 men, women and children leave their villages in fear, to sleep rough in the Ugandan city of Kitgum. Why? To escape the rebels who attack their villages, burning, raping and abducting children to become child soldiers. But sleeping on the streets has its own dangers – lack of water and sanitation, the cold and malaria. Today Oxfam is working to provide support for these ‘Nightdwellers’, and 100,000 more homeless people across the country. Click below to find out more and see Oxfam’s film on war-torn Uganda.
