For those of you who are lucky enough to live in Brighton, or those who have visited recently, you may have seen Linos Wengara playing his mbira in the Pavilion Gardens or on Bond Street. Linos, a Zimbabwean who moved to Brighton a few years ago, now plays his music in and around town to entertain and expose the Zimbabwean sound to us Brightonites. He also makes marimbas, and holds workshops on how to play the mbira and marimba. His group, Zimbaremabwe, featuring Dave Aifarane Makombwe and Mbada, use the mbira as the centre of their musical creations, and have recently released a CD which you can buy from Linos wherever he is playing. Must say, it is one of the best musical buys I have made in a while.
