This has always made me wonder whether we are from another planet.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/pics\/clock.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"oldblogthumb\" \/>&#8220;The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bristolpress.com\/site\/news.cfm?newsid=14044626&amp;BRD=1643&amp;PAG=461&amp;dept_id=10486&amp;rfi=6\" rel=\"external\">circadian cycle<\/a><\/strong> is the biological clock in each of us. It regulates the body temperature, alertness, and works together with the 24-hour clock. Most people are up and awake during the day, and asleep at night. (The exception for shift workers.)<\/p>\n<p>If you put people in a laboratory environment, with no light, no TV, no clocks, a VCR that doesn&rsquo;t know the time, and take away all cues to time, people don&rsquo;t know what time it is. But they have to be able to control the lighting. They will set their time every 25-and-1\/2 hours, but they think it&rsquo;s 24 hours. The light we are exposed to and the alarm clock serves to set our biological clock every day. In a laboratory, it was found that sleep and wakefulness is all controlled by the circadian clock and the circadian cycle operates without input from the outside world.
