Today is Candlemas in our happy little home. Candlemas is the name the Christians gave to an old pagan holiday known as Imbolc, and just so happens to be the name of the holiday I’ve made up for today!<\/p>\n
So what do you do on Candlemas? Well, duh, you make candles! We’re going out to pick up a crateload of wax and various scented things and soon we’ll have a hearth full of mini-flames. Also, on Candlemas, you get ready to sew your fields and begin the new crop. Being city dwellers and that it’s much too early to plant anything, we’re going to pickle cucumbers.<\/p>\n
Oh, and possibly the best part of it all is that, if it’s a cloudy day out today then Winter is just about over, but if it’s a sunny day out then, according to legend, Winter will last for six more weeks. Well, it’s a quite cloudy day above our heads so bring on the Spring!<\/p>\n
