In the 70’s a woman brought 4 hedgehogs to the Scottish island of Uist to eat the snails in her garden. These have bred to over 5000, threatening the survival of wild bird species. A mass cull was considered, but now the Scottish Natural Heritage is looking into more humane methods (not such good news for sluggies).
