Google announced on Wednesday that its still-in-beta-testing e-mail service, Gmail, will now support POP access. Post Office Protocol (POP) is the mail service type commonly utilized by Microsoft Outlook and other similar e-mail applications. It is also utilized by handheld devices. This means Gmail account holders will be able to access the e-mail in their Gmail accounts using other programs/devices instead of being limited to online-only access through a browser on a PC.
