Duchess is allowed to grow illegal pot plants
“The Duchess of Northumberland has been granted permission to grow cannabis plants, magic mushrooms and opium poppies in her garden at Alnwick Castle.

The illegal drugs are to be grown alongside more than 50 dangerous plants in the Poison Garden, the first of its kind in Britain, which will form part of a vast park being built next to the castle.

David Blunkett, the Home Secretary, granted The Alnwick Garden Trust a special licence for the plants after the charity submitted plans explaining that they were required for educational purposes.”
