The Patriot Act
I’ve always thought the word “Patriot” in the name was a very clever ploy to convince American citizens that it was their duty to accept the act and believe it to be in their best interests. Citizens who completely accept the act are automatically accepted as a true patriots without question. The name implies that if any thinking American raises issues or concerns they should be seen as traitors or anarchists, even though their main concern is protecting the rights of the ordinary citizen, protecting the America they are proud of. Well that’s how it looks to me on the other side of the ocean anyway…
