Skype adds video to its VoIP service
Engadget: “They said they were gonna do it and by gum, they’ve done it (not always a given in the tech world, ya know) — Skype now does video conferencing via the use of a third-party plug-in from Dialcom. Dialcom’s Spontania Video4skype will allow Skype users (Windows only for now — surprise, surprise) with a connected webcam to make video calls via the Skype client. The Spontania plug-in was actually built to be integrated into any third party VoIP application, so expect this to be adopted by other VoIP services in the not-too-distant future.”

Skype me from work during lunch. I’m sure it’ll work just fine.

Yeah, the ringing part is the shizzle’s nit. It’s the part where I can’t hear the girl on the other end that tickle’s my pink.

and you can physically “ring” the person just like it were a phone…

Well upon testing my headset and cam with Ken who has 2MB broadband as well, Skype audio seems to be much clearer and smoother than MSN, while MSN video seems to be smoother than Video4Skype.

So what, exactly, would be the benefit of using Skype over MSN Messenger?
Just curious.
