  hmmmmm…so by my brother answering yes to that horribly taxing question was the wrong thing to do ?! …cos this is what happened and now this is where it gets interesting….even after my bro said yes and even after the windows rep said he cant give that specific code out… … …he still did…. :o) brilliant… !!!

  Anyways….why does it seem suspicious ??? its only Microsofts way of trying to control the planet…. :o)

  and like we actually have a choice anyway… ;o)

  I think its more of a deterrent…. for people who have installed the same copy of XP on various other machines…when only buying a single version/license (eg: pirating it)

  (please do not try this at home… and I dont support this behaviour, lol,as id never ever ever do such a thing, becuase its very naughty, lol, and very bad… this is just for informative purposes only) 😛 😛

  Basically you can install a single license copy of winXP on another machine or as many as you like (illegally of course)… and when you try an validate it online to register your copy with the keycode, it will tell you that the key has already been used (on the first machine) ….then it gives you the option of calling them to speak to an operator on a local telephone number (toll free too i might add) whereby you can speak to a representitive of microsoft who, after asking you a simple question, will give you a new, different and working key!!!… that simple question being: “Is this copy of windows installed on any other machine?”… to which id imagine you’d answer…”no” lol (but only if youre very naughty and bad)

  (im not saying that it is good to do this lol…..personally id never, ever, ever ever ever do such a thing 😛 )

  now im sure that a lot of people have figured out this little peice of telephonic “social engineering”…. lol…. and that a lot of illegal installs of XP are out there as we speak…

  Now id imagine that if you had done this, you would be a little worried when you went to update windows and came across this little validate youre windows to see if its genuine etc… and therefore be inclined to actually purchasing it! and thats what its there for… as a deterrent id imagine!

  PS: if you actually do use the validation tool, and have done the above steps in “registering” your winXP copy, then have no fear because it will still work as the key the service representitives give you are 100{a9f0d31f6175b3e4775e11a66c07db268fb74408d6095f6b46eeec420c0e9f62} valid 😉

  not that id know of course as id never ever ever do such a thing…. because its naughty 😛
