Following Google’s release of Google Maps, which is a pretty handy map system that I find myself, albeit only occasionally, using instead of MapQuest, they’ve come out with Google Earth – a program available for download that allows you to rotate the world around in a wonderful God-like manner.

Better than MapQuest, however, is the ability to rotate your line of site, so that it’s not just a bird’s eye view – major cities provide you with quasi-3D images and you can peep the hills as well – quite handy for plotting your next bike/hike.
