If Fawkes had succeeded, (wished he had) then both Spain and France would’ve been convinced to invade and re-Catholicize England. British Protestants would’ve been thirsty for blood, and would undoubtedly quench that thirst with the blood of papists. Spain and France would come to the aid of the persecuted Catholics and subdue the savage Protestants. Fawkes would’ve lead England back to Rome, or least tried. Whether he’d best Protestant resistance to re-assimilation is up for debate, but the United Kingdom would certainly be a different today.
