Partly Cloudy
In my earliest years I grew up in a house where the weather was the most important thing the TV had to say, while the news only got to burble in the background as we dressed the cats up in bibs and bonnets and stuffed them into the doll bed. It was the only time my dad would ever tell us to “SHHHHH!!!!” and for 5 minutes the whole family’s attention would be on one single thing – the weatherman’s pointy stick. I guess if you spend every day, all day strangled by a suit and tie, knowing exactly which layers and fabrics to wear can make a huge difference in comfort.
Over the years weather reports have evolved from hokey little drawings with stuck on clouds to 3D generated plains that swoop and globes that spin and mesmerise, but nothing beats an accurate 5-day weather report.
I discovered AccuWeather.com through a nifty plugin for Firefox: Forecastfox shows you the temperature for now, today and tomorrow in your toolbar or statusbar. If you travel a lot you can switch between custom-made profiles with a right-click. And what I love the most about AccuWeather’s reports is the RealFeel® temperature, which takes into account chilly winds, humidity and levels of sunshine. I use it every day and so far its been 100{a9f0d31f6175b3e4775e11a66c07db268fb74408d6095f6b46eeec420c0e9f62} accurate. Maybe you’ll like it too.

I don’t know, it’s just the way it installed itself. It’s always down there by my clock.

How do you get it to display in your startbar like that?

I’m loving accuweather, it is more attractive & more informative than my other app, BUT the other one is in my window tool bar so I see it even when I’m not browsing. So, for the time being, I’m keeping both ~:)

Keep me updated!

Oooh, I have another one installed, but I’m adding this one (having heard previously of it’s accuracy from a neighbor). I’ll be comparing them for a week or so and will keep my fav.
I too am a big fan of the good old window, but here in Portland it’s a pretty worthless guide to what may occur in 20 minutes. Yesterday our forecast had predicted showers starting around 5. All afternoon it seemed wrong, there were clouds as usual, plus a fair amount of sunshine. Then, while the sun still shone, the drops started, just a tap tap tap for a minute, then showers started. I checked my phone and sure enough, 4:58. I sure didn’t see that coming out the window ~;)

Thanks for the plug to the past – 8}>
I have a much better system in place, it’s called a window. It works wonders for keeping your spirits up even in the face of 5 days of subzero arctic chills, because for all you know it could be a balmy just-below-freezing tomorrow!
