Dean Kamen’s latest creation promises to do nothing short of producing clean water from virtually any liquid source (without filters) and generate enough electricity to power about 70 energy efficient light bulbs.

Kamen estimates the units will cost $1,000 to $2,000 and wants to get these into mass production ASAP so that it can be shipped to the clean-water deprived regions of our earth. Check out this video, its awesome.

Its not even big news on the blogosphere. Makes me wonder if anyone in the First World really cares since access to clean water isnt an issue for us. Yet. The stats on how much water it takes to make a can of soda or a bottle of water blows my mind I had no idea.
These could be really big in SA where power blackouts are daily occurrences and watering your garden during the summer water shortage is illegal.
I hope that once the units are available to buy it will hit the news in a bigger way. I guess it would help it it had an actual name for starters… Did anyone happen to notice what its called?
